With most of our Summer and Fall 2019 wedding postponed due to Covid-19, more and more of our couples are planning to celebrate their weddings more intimately and also during those untraditional months of the year. Yes, we’re talking about those cold winter months that are inevitable in New Jersey. Don’t get us wrong, we’ve always loved the idea of a winter wedding for many different reasons! However, over the years we’ve realized that winter weddings call for a little more preparation on those must-have items that keep our couples, their wedding party, and of course their friends and family more comfortable! So whether you’re celebrating with an intimate wedding or your reading this when large gatherings are allowed again, try adding these must-have items to your wedding day check-list!
Cozy Getting Ready Attire Faux Fur Stoles
Who doesn’t like to be cozy comfortable while sitting in the beauty chair, all while sipping hot cocoa with your besties? In the chilly season, you’ll need to swap the floral robes for cozy flannel pajama sets that your bridesmaids will love, even after your wedding day. Another great accessory is a faux fur stole or stylish cape for those outdoor photos and a beautiful shawl they can be used inside. We love the idea of going the extra mile and embroidering any of these pieces with your bridesmaids initials. Such a special touch and detail!
Find the Perfect Pair
We’re bringing classy and stylish back with recommending a toe closed shoe to protect your toes from wintry elements! We love these shoes by designer Badgley Mischka, and when the time comes to get on the dance floor, we are obsessed with these beautiful Anthropologie ballet flats.
Beautiful Moody Florals
This year, we are loving the more moody tones couples are leaning towards. The idea that you can still have beautiful lush tones with pops of color is a great compromise if you are looking for the perfect wintry ambiance.
Savory foods and winter inspired cocktails
Winter is the season for indulgence which means having your pick at some of the most savory comfort foods and festive winter cocktails that will have friends and family feeling warm and toasty in no time! Get creative with your food and drink menus and consult your venue’s chef for their expert guidance.
It’s All In The Details
One of the most common mistakes we see couples make during the planning process is not preparing their guests properly. If you plan to have an outdoor ceremony or if there’s an outdoor space for guests to enjoy during the reception, be sure to include this information on the details cards of your invitation. Then go the extra to provide a basket of blankets to ensure that everyone is comfortable and are able to enjoy themselves.
Lastly, plan your day accordingly knowing you have limited daylight. This may mean having to wake up earlier then normal to start hair and makeup so that you can do a majority of your photos before the ceremony. We also always encourage winter couples to do a first look for this exact reason. Ask your wedding planner to begin a tentative timeline early on in the planning so you can work through your day of needs.
Winter weddings are some of favorites to plan and we look forward to the winter of 2021 being one of our busiest seasons yet! If you need help planning your winter wedding, reach out to us here!
